Genomic insights into the NPGS intermediate wheatgrass germplasm collection

چکیده

The National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) is a vital resource for genetic diversity, yet utilization of this requires thorough understanding the germplasm and diversity. Intermediate wheatgrass (IWG, Thinopyrum intermedium) perennial grass species that has been improved forage production through breeding utilizing NPGS collection also targeted domestication as grain crop. To better characterize IWG collection, we combined previously published data with new agronomic genomic data. A total 331 accessions were genomically profiled genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) genome-wide association study (GWAS) was used to evaluate trait architecture. Along GWAS, in silico bulk samples by recoding GBS conduct mapping allele counting extreme-phenotype (XP)-GWAS. Genomic analysis revealed two subpopulations, which defined European Asian groups, are differentiated around Black Sea region. Phenotypic observations traits differed between groups (p < 0.05), even though greater than 70% variance partitioned within individual accessions. Finally, XP-GWAS 303 marker-trait associations five four traits. These results suggest diversity should lead gains both well opportunities programs enhance More broadly, methods applied could be applicable low-resourced species, leveraging existing data, strengthen characterization efficiency. Leveraging genomic prediction to scan germplasm collection for crop improvement

The objective of this study was to explore the potential of genomic prediction (GP) for soybean resistance against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary, the causal agent of white mold (WM). A diverse panel of 465 soybean plant introduction accessions was phenotyped for WM resistance in replicated field and greenhouse tests. All plant accessions were previously genotyped using the SoySNP50K B...

Establishment and Optimization of Genomic Selection to Accelerate the Domestication and Improvement of Intermediate Wheatgrass.

Intermediate wheatgrass (IWG) is a perennial species and has edible and nutritious grain and desirable agronomic traits, including large seed size, high grain yield, and biomass. It also has the potential to provide ecosystem services and an economic return to farmers. However, because of its allohexaploidy and self-incompatibility, developing molecular markers for genetic analysis and molecula...

Genomic insights into positive selection.

The traditional way of identifying targets of adaptive evolution has been to study a few loci that one hypothesizes a priori to have been under selection. This approach is complicated because of the confounding effects that population demographic history and selection have on patterns of DNA sequence variation. In principle, multilocus analyses can facilitate robust inferences of selection at i...

Newer Insights into the Prsevention of the Common Cold

Since most colds are self-limiting, symptoms will usually resolve on their own in seven to ten days. For the majority of patients, treatment is symptomatic and targeted at the most bothersome symptoms. Specific nonprescription therapy may relieve cold symptoms but should be used with caution, especially in at-risk patient populations. Patients should monitor for worsening symptoms, and progress...
